HotelsByDay- A Great Way to Start the Day?
/SPOTLIGHT: Travel Solutions We Like - HotelsByDay
Today we will take a quick look at Hotels By Day. This is one of the solutions we really like at Bookbuses.com and that I, Oscar, our CEO & Co-Founder also have used myself.
Quick into., HotelsByday is just what it sounds, renting hotels by the hour when no one is using them anyway. Someone might be getting thoughts about what you need that for, and actually it is mostly targeted tourists and business people that need a quick stop.
Myself, being an entrepreneur, often means traveling a lot. I live in NYC, I am from Europe and I frequently travel both the West Coast and along the East Coast to attend business meetings, projects, and suppliers
I used to go to a restaurant or a Starbucks because there is unlimited (paid) coffee and Wi-Fi and prepare for the meeting. Often I would not be able to check-in early at my overnight Hotel, so sitting at a coffee bar seemed to be the most natural. However, I feel that after spending lots of money flying and time-traveling that I could use better somewhere else, I feel that I was cutting myself short.
I like to sleep and I particularly don’t like sleeping on planes. However, I find that getting a quick nap, getting a shower and spending a few hours preparing for my meeting is by far the best way to prepare for an important meeting and several times I have used HotelsByDay. It is also much cheaper than flying business class or 1st class on a place with the excuse to get a nap on the plane…. and spending additional thousands $$$$. The hotels often hot a Bathtub…. beats 1st class!
Enter HotelsByDay… Prices
The company is active in all major cities in the USA. Apart from hotels in cities they also offer day hotels in airport hotels that are nice for long layovers as well as Beach Rooms, Suburban and Meeting Rooms.
The prices are good. It still costs money but for the hotel, it is an extra revenue source so they are off course incentivized and obviously hope you get back another time for some nights too. Manhattan is $80 up from when I checked the last time and compared to the $250 that goes for per night I think it is pretty good. Obviously, prices will vary with availability and season.
They rent out hotels from 10 am-6 pm, but you can also rent shorter, in fact, most times are shorter. But here is still time to relax and order take out, room service, visit the spa, crunch some emails and brush up that presentation and research your meeting target on Linkedin. Maybe even Iron a shirt?
Traveling in Groups… Preparation and Meetings.
Traveling in groups might be a hassle when it comes to organization. For companies attending conferences, trade shows, etc. HotelsByDay can be a great way to make all your employees feel ready and well presented. Even if you are in a city only for one day, having a place to prepare is essential. To ease your travel more you can book a bus for all of your employees so that you don’t have to go through buying separate subway tickets and walking. The bus will pick you up at the airport and take you all the way to your hotel and even to the given conference. You will have nothing to worry about! Isn’t it perfect?
Want more Adventures?
You often go to sport events, concerts or festivals? A hotel room during the day is an excellent way of getting ready! Even I sometimes have days off and do these kind of things. Imagine going to one of Billy Joel’s famous concerts in Madison Square Garden: you wake up at 6AM to catch a plane, arrive to New York at 1 PM and the show starts at 9 PM. You could wander around the city and be totally tired by the evening, or you could rent a room during the day and catch up on some sleep to be 100% ready for the concert!
Any Critique?
Sometimes I looked at smaller cities that there was nothing available or very little available. They really are focused on major cities but I believe they are opening up in more and more locations.
